Glendale provide grounds maintenance services across the Wessex Water Southern and Western region, serving as a key professional partner to support Wessex Water's visual and corporate image. Our scheduled operations will include regular grass cutting, strimming, weed control, vegetation clearance, and hedge trimming, alongside minor arboricultural works, all performed according to an agreed annual programme. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards across all sites, including water treatment and recycling centres, bio-resources centres, sewage pumping stations, and office and depot locations.
Beyond our scheduled tasks, Glendale is prepared to deliver non-scheduled and ancillary services, such as specialised weeding, weed spraying, and ditch maintenance, as directed primarily by the Wessex Water Grounds Maintenance Coordinators, Molly Perham and Charlotte Leeson.
We actively pursue continuous performance improvements throughout the cutting season, which runs from early March to the end of October. We are also fully equipped to manage and integrate any instructed variations into our work programme within seven days, ensuring all services are delivered with flexibility and precision to meet the evolving needs of the sites
Glendale has been providing grounds maintenance and landscaping services to Wessex Water since 2008.
Our Services Include
Grass Cutting
Glendale will programme the work to ensure the number of cuts is suitably spread across the cutting season. In the event of a dry season and slow growth, the cuts may be reduced; equally, in the event of a wet season, with excessive growth, more cuts may be required. Any such changes will be planned with the Wessex Water Grounds Maintenance Coordinators.
Mowing will be carried out using mowers and strimmers, with arisings left on the ground. At water recycling centres, bioresources centres and sewage pumping station sites, as an alternative to strimming edges, fences, and around obstructions, these areas can be treated with an approved herbicide.
All sites are categorised as follows
Hedge & Shrub Maintenance
Glendale will cut hedges and shrubs in accordance with the frequency stated in the contract (usually once or twice a year). Outside of the bird nesting season of 1 March to 31 August each year.
Weed control
Glendale will deliver a programme of application to ensure a weed-free environment in the following areas: gravelled area, hard-core roads/areas, concrete road joints, tarmac roads, all paths, hard standings, and building perimeters adjacent to hard areas. The programme shall reflect the use of glyphosate weed killer.
This work is mainly confined to specific hard-standing and gravel areas.
WEEDKILLING - WATER SUPPLY (DISTRIBUTION & PRODUCTION SITES):
All water treatment centres and water distribution sites within this Contract shall not be subject to regular weed spraying. Where weed treatment is included within the scheduled services for these sites, this shall be through pulling or strimming, as appropriate.
